French Economic Illiteracy
Why are the French so lazy and economically illiterate? Do they understand that they literally cannot afford to keep spending as they are? France has already pushed its taxation to the limits in that further increases will actually shrink the economy and lower revenue as their previous tax hikes had, has over 50% of its GDP through government spending, has high debt, and has low growth. These combined mean that if there are not cuts and reforms, then the French welfare state will literally collapse, as in it won't just be cut but completely gone. Unable to be funded as no one will lend France money anymore. That also means there is no chance of "strategic autonomy" from the USA when you are broke, and cannot be governed due to internal divisions. And how do the French respond to these facts? They cry, and bitch, and moan, and riot because they are upset that wealth cannot just be materialized on the spot out of thin air. Sad!

The only problem is the baby boomers' pensions.
But for electoral reasons, politicians do not want to do anything about it and will continue to target the working population in order to maintain the privileged status of retirees.

Because the economy is for the landholders and wealthy. All that stuff about GDP are buzzwords with no real impact. The poor will be poor, and the rich will be rich. Thats all.

I guess Swedes are economically illiterate too. France has one of the most robust social welfare spending on Earth, and it is primarily being funded by debt currently. Investors are already demanding high interest rates for further debt, so without revenue increases and spending cuts, eventually investors will STOP buying French debt meaning the collapse of their welfare. That ABSOLUTELY will crush the poor. The poor won't just be poor, but in genuine poverty if social programs can no longer be funded.

The USA actually subsidizes healthcare a lot, we have free healthcare for the poor, subsidies for health insurance premiums if you earn less than 60k/yr, we pay for 50% of unpaid hospital bills for patients who can't afford the cost, we subsidize rural hospitals and doctors, we pardon medical debt for doctors who agree to accept Medicaid patients, provide free vaccines and annual checkups etc etc. Add to this the private insurance and practice aspect, state v federal roles, and you get this monstrous bureaucracy that costs 10x the amount that a universal healthcare system would cost. Add to this the fact that Americans are fat and unhealthy, and you get asinine healthcare spending on an inefficient system being used by very unhealthy people.

Literally not true. If you are poor you get free healthcare in the USA, the issue is more the bureaucratic middle men that siphon off profit despite contributing nothing, and the fact that Americans (especially the poors) are very unhealthy so require constant care for their self-inflicted chronic conditions.

Of course he raised the age, since it affects working people and youth and not current retirees. We'll be the ones left holding the bag in this story. Politically, nothing will be done, the pension system will collapse just in time for our own retirement, and we'll be left looking like fools.
The worst part of this story is that with capitalization, current retirees would have had a better pension.
But no, it was absolutely necessary to keep the distribution system for the baby boomer generation (demographic peak).

If you want to learn something fun, France spends about 5.4% of its GDP on education, which is similar to the United States.
But in reality, 25-30% of the education budget is allocated to pensions, as the country keeps increasing state employer contribution rates in order to transfer money from various public services to pension funds.

The country with the highest taxes in the world spends a lower percentage of its GDP on education than the United States, and if you factor in the pension scam in the education budget, spending per student is probably half that of Denmark, for example. A brief explanation of our fall in the PISA rankings
This is generational suicide for baby boomers.

Singapore : budget per student : 16 604 SGD ( smthg like 20k in dollar PPA )

France : when the pension surcharge is removed from the education budget its probably around 10k USD PPA per student

> You're calling him corporatist for bitching about student-teacher ratios and school funding in general? Are you sure about that one?

Let me be clear: I don't want more taxes, I want fewer taxes, and I want public money to be spent more wisely. Ruining a country to fatten the savings accounts of the elderly serves no purpose. Having fewer retards in the next generation is a little more useful.
And I don't think that putting more money into it is a magic solution, but it will help a lot, especially if we stop lowering the standards for becoming a teacher.
