tbf to the French I don't think they really do 'worship' the revolution. Even Napoleon is now regarded as a complex figure. Modern France is an essentially Gaullist creation.

>'worship' the revolution
It's *The Republic* we worship, for one reason or another, more or less fervently, or that we pretend to worship for political credibility. Nothing to do with the Revolution, we all learned in school what happened: it started as a positive movement for social justice and ended with the beheading of its own leaders.
Everyone who shits on the Republic is a dangerous lunatic, and everyone who actually does worship the Republic is a dangerous sociopath who's trying to manipulate people (when talking about its laws, its constituion, its "customs/traditions", etc.). We're better off in the middle: we enjoy the rights and duties given to us under a republic, and we're willing to change it if need be, and that's it.

I respect that the French will just suddenly shut down their own country, burn tires on all the roads and undergo mass strikes because they're slightly pissed off about anything economic or government related. (Native) Brits could have North Korean style martial law imposed on them alongside a daily execution lottery and they would still be putting their head down and going to work hoping it all blows over

Assuming General Secretary Comrade Kier decided to abolish the tesco meal deal there may be some moderate civil unrest, but he's not stupid enough to risk the party's governance like that
