I’m a judge in Brazil and tomorrow I have to preside over 10 custody hearings aka bond hearings in US — but I never fix bond because people here are poor. It’s my weekend shift. Reviewing cases here and it’s mostly domestic violence, burglary and small-scale drug trafficking. Most will go free because of no prior criminal record and no need for pretrial detention given the circumstances, but I will issue some restraining orders. One will go to pretrial detention though, he’s a repeat offender involved with violent crime, and he’s back to stealing a month after being released from prison. What’s an unexpected job you have in your country?

Not at all and no one has ever tried to bribe me.
But I’m disliked by the local police force and the mayor who see me as being soft on crime, when I’m just being reasonable.

Some people are like this. They see any amount of restraint, reason or leniency as being soft, which to them is unacceptable. People like that shouldn't be allowed near guns or courtrooms.

>see me as being soft on crime, when I’m just being reasonable.
so how many more people need to be repeat offenders before you realize your soft-on-crime approach doesn't work>

he's not a lawyer and isn't naming names or specific cases so likely not but would get in trouble if someone found out he's posting here. He's likely just larping since no judge would be dumb enough to discuss stuff on here
