>We WILL have strategic autonomy from the USA! No we won't cut our welfare state or raise taxes to fund a military! No we won't cut our welfare state or raise taxes to pay off our mounting debt! No we won't enlist in the military or accept conscription! No we won't create innovative companies and products! No we won't have more children to increase our collapsing birthrates, and doomed demographics! Yes we will keep doing whatever the USA says (but we'll say how mean they are now)! But we TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY will become an independent Superpower within two weeks!

This is as potent an opium as you can hope for, if people start caring for words more than actions you give social concessions to achieve strategic goals. Personally I think Europe is hedging their bets, if the US isn't stable they can always go back to buying oil from Russia.

They are doing some stuff, but it is interesting to see that no matter how terrible Trump is, European governments still as kiss or try to convince him to do xyx. Are the gibs that good? Are they trying to buy time until the next election?

If they did that, then they'd divide their union between West and East since Eastern Europeans are absolutely anti-Russian. That would hinder their Federalization plans. Also, I am telling you right now, after visiting Europe multiple times, there is ZERO chance of modern Europeans making the necessary sacrifices to become independent. Their entire population have become welfare queens, and when that happens everyone begins to expect other people to take care of them and solve problems, so they'll never do it themselves.

imagine a place where you put unwanted children, retards and criminals to keep them away from the general population. that is how EU politicians are selected.

whenever some goverment party wants to get rid of super troublesome politician, they put them on the voting ticket to EU parlament. you cannot expect that circuss of overpaid clowns to ever produce a coherent though process. plus majority of them there have fake hummanities "education". these clowns wouldnt be able to pass even highschool math test. they mostly sit there, steal as much tax money as possible and are rewarded for producing byrocratic papers noone reads with life long rent after they are discarded and replaced by next batch of idiots. and best kick is that these ones which are epected are not the ones who make decisions. they just do meaningless voting, cannot even suggest a law change.

it is all just for show to distract the masses. the individual states are nowhere near this level of incopetency.

Welfare queens tend to look better than people who have to work. You follow the social protocols and get money to do as you please with it. A good portion of people I know on welfare are gymrats, they just go to the gym then back home and that's it. There isn't a chance in hell they're going to give that up. Their governments bought into the idea of market liberalism and think they can use investment money to cover their energy costs. If they dropped the total welfare society and let open an avenue for more commercial interaction, they'd start complaining about wealth inequality. You need a market to test any sort of product, they can't keep relying on the US market for data, their issues with energy and lack of a domestic markets are their core problems. Every other problem is HOI4 map painter nonsense.

Right. This is my exact point that they will not be able to become a Superpower and independent with the trap they set themselves in.
