Modern people just have the stereotype association, but black people historically were associated with being cooks and chefs and BBQ'ers in a servile manner, but people really did like their food. Aunt Jemima is a mascot character from a long time ago that to people of the past advertised "This stuff tastes so good it's like a black woman made it!" In the past stereotypical character mascots were common. Another one is Quaker Oats which have nothing to do with Quakers, but are an old timey marketing mascot to suggest "Our oats are so pure they are like the Quakers".
