The way anime is today makes me want to Kdramamaxx. The 'community' is even worse than before (early-2000s), and the art itself has no 'soul' anymore.

I'd say the art lost its soul completely around 2008. Whatever Japan was on back in the 90s and 2000s they need to start doing it again. Not even the most hardcore anti-western deranged weebs can justify it without saying something like 'yeah but in the west they produce MOMA art or something and that's mainstream'.

Anime always sucked. You just grew up and stopped liking cartoons

I'd agree. Though, I'd cut it off at about 2010; anything after that, the quality began to drop significantly, ESPECIALLY after 2015.

I don't get it.

I still watch the older stuff. Nothing after 2005, generally.

why do you dislike anime, what's wrong with it?

also, what are some good kdrama shows and what makes them better than anime?

Some of them are pretty good. I prefer mostly legal dramas though, because 90% of the others are romance-slop.

>what's wrong with modern anime?
Oh, the rampant p--er um, "people who prefer them younger" tropes, the same cookie-cutter approaches to stories, CONSTANT isekai garbage, etc. Plus, the animation itself just doesn't feel...'rigid' like it used to, which I guess is a byproduct of no longer being hand-drawn and instead 'computer enhanced.' In fact, there's going to be AI-generated anime coming out, and that's a huge no-no.

A couple of good Kdramas I'd say are
>Military Prosecutor: Doberman
>Potato Star
>Suspicious Partner
>One the Woman
>Descendants of the Sun
>Reply 1988
>Once Again

eh, that's like avoiding books altogether because sex novels (that involve rape) is popular and that there are a lot of garbage books that are only useful when they are used as firestarters for grilling meat

I watch anime because western cartoons stopped being good around 2010s
I've been watching anime since
some notable exceptions would be bojack horseman and rick and morty
it's good to be open minded and seek out stuff and see if you like them or not and it's okay either way

I'll watch your recommendations and see if they click with me

Western cartoons were never 'good', they were comedy or kids shows. Most of the attention was put on shows like Supernatural, The Sopranos, movies, and so on. There wasn't much attention being put on comics and cartoons. By the 2000s capeshit was almost entirely transferred into movie franchises, the US had pretty good comics in the 90s like Sandman, but they were extremely high quality productions that took far more time and resources to make than Japanese manga. Same goes for animation, basically animators made sure everything was on 2s or 1s or they threatened to unionize if the standard dropped even if 90% of people who watch cartoons can't tell the difference between a powerpoint and animation.

Most anime after 2013-16 has been normie slop shonen trash. There's a reason I grew out of it. There are diamonds in the rough still
