I recently read somewhere that about 20 million people in france are technically millionaire. idk how this thing is counted, perhaps on a household basis, so a boomer couple might have a million in assets between the two or them or something like that.
in any case it's not hard to see why, if they managed to buy 2 apartments in nice 30 years ago now those 2 apartments are indeed worth about one mil, but that's just static wealth, not a productive asset like a factory, a truck or even a sewing machine.
in any case them having political autonomy and influence has got to worsen the situation with the demographic pyramid going the way it is in most countries. they're liable to ally in voting with the most despicable parties so long as they get to keep their benefits for the duration of the 5-10 years that they will continue to be alive.
universal suffrage was indeed a mistake, and women, young adults, and old people should be restricted from it in general elections. voting for local council is benign so maybe that can be permissible
