Evolution in the north was a story of death. Pre-historic people had little ability to deal with the 6 months of deathly cold that happened annually. It was not a place for naked humans. Even moreso back then since it was still the ice age and colder than now even.

These populations went through serious bottleneck/founder effects due to this. It was simply whoever could make it and that was a very small group of people, who went on to found the entire race. This goes for Euro whites and East Asians alike. I'm guessing the transition from dark to pale was quite rapid and it was a small band of pale high foresight high work ethic oddities that won out.

This is not a schizo theory, it's actually partly why and also the primary theory for why blue and green eye colour was selected for.

you guys are only partly correct, it was yakub that selected only the pale individuals for reproduction on the island of patmos.
