One guy killed himself at age 20. No note, no anything so we don't know his stated reasons but he had a pretty rough life

>mother committed suicide when he was still a baby
>dad was absent
>later turned out he was conceived using donor sperm
>the donor was an infamous fertility doctor who had over 100 children conceived with his sperm
>grew up with his grandparents who were both dead before he was 17

Throughout life he seemed resilient though. He was a succesful entrepreneur, had a gf, but apparently still depressed.

Haven't lost a friend yet. Came close when one tried to off himself but all he got in the end was a sick eyepatch, and a new view on life.

i feel like a lot of things we do in life are trying to make someone else proud but if that person doesnt exist life seems pointless

I knew a girl who was very sweet on me, she even told me she didn't have a bf, but she was run over by a car a little time later. I went to her burial.
A friend with japanese ancestry died in a car accident. It was really sad because we often mocked him for being a bad driver and thought it was a joke when we got the news

My best friend died in 2017 of a rare congenital disease. From 2010 on to his death he was like family to me, people assumed we were brothers. At some point I had to move for studies, and just as school started a few days later I get a call from a common friend telling me he passed away. I hadn't seen him for months at that point, and I fully hoped we could meet soon because I already came out of a hard spot in life. It fucking broke me mentally, the grieving process was too long and hard, and I even still dream of him sometimes (and it's not good).

Two. One was a old university friend of mine, passed away suddenly from an underlying medical condition, the other one was a steam friend who died in a car crash.

yeah definitely. Feel bad that I never realized this back when I was in school with him. I knew parts of his back story and felt bad about him in a superficial way, but never took the time to think about how he really felt. I could recognize why it would be sad to grow up without your parents in a superficial way, but I never thought about the effect it would have on how he saw the world and his day to day emotions.

the thing about these cases is that no matter how in depth you understand the situation there isn't much you can do about it, you can't replace family even if you're a good friend

there was this girl in school that used to like me.
I was the quiet but smart kid, she was a sports girl. She even represented the town at national events, I think even regional (south America).
She had a lot of confidence and used to follow me around. I remember clearly she once waited for me to get out of the bathroom, lifted get skirt a little and said "anon, look at these legs"
I made that stupid little run slow/walk fast evasive tactic. Sue me, we were like 12-13
Anyway by the end of the year I changed schools and then when I was 14 I found out she died in a car accident
weird how life is sometimes. She had a bright future in sports.

None yet. Childhood friends are all alive, that I know of. I still keep in touch with a few of my HS buds and they're all healthy (except for maybe one obese guy, but last I checked he was going into a clinic). None took their life so far, I wonder if I'll be the first
