There was even West German sabotage long after the so called "re-unification".
Basically Dresden had a well developed semiconductor industry since before the fall of the Berlin well which survived after 1990.
They were producing worldclass technology over there and then some West German politician shut it all down for no reason.
No the EU finally realized that they don't have chipmaking abilities like the US or Asia which is another reason as to why the car industry is dying over here, but that is out of the scope of what I'm trying to tell you here.
