It's a partial conscription, not every male has to serve. Names are drawn at the start of every year and then the military needs to conscript a set number men from that list. If you're deep down the list (say no. 4000) there's a good chance you won't have to serve anyways, as the military will likely reach its target goal anyways. Unless they changed something that I'm unaware of.

Too lazy to tell the whole story. The food is shit - few times I almost puked up the food at the table. I was stuck with real psychos. There was shit smeared all over the wall in the corridor.
These two weeks have been a real nightmare. I thought about death the entire time because if I had been declared fit, I would have committed suicide.
