Went to a small party yesterday to bid farewell to a girl from the team that is leaving for another part of the company.

Today I went to the gym for my leg day, I went to one of the squat racks and deadlift platform combo thing (pic related), there was a guy doing Romanian deadlifts with 30 kg in the deadlift platform and looking at himself in the mirror.
I went straight to the squat rack, ignoring him.
After that, the guy remarked that I was rude, I told him that my using the squat rack doesn't stop him from deadlifting, that I pay for the gym the same as him so we have to share, that he's not the owner of the gym.
He later told me if I would be fine if he did the same, I didn't understand him at first because of the way he said it but then I said than yes that if I were in the deadlift platform if wouldn't bother me if he took the rack.
He then said that I was disrespectful and I told him that I didn't care.
He said "madre mía", an expression to show surprise, then I answered "sí, madre tuya", making a bit of a joke there, he didn't answer to that, I don't know if he didn't hear me well or preferred not to dwell on it.
Later said that "poco te pasa", "few things happen to you" as expressing that I was disrespectful and my comeuppance was due, I didn't answer to that, mainly to avoid getting kicked out of my 110th gym, but I should have told him that he's the one who bothers people and that he only does so because I look white and harmless, but that if I were a gypsy he wouldn't have said anything, and could have also told him that I would never harm him because that would only bring me trouble but that I'm perfectly capable of killing him before anyone stops me, and that he should understand the stark contrast between our physical capabilities, but again I thought that would be a stupid thing to do.
Later another guy tried to say he could train besides his rack, but he didn't understand that the guy just wanted the whole rack + platform for himself.
He ended up leaving after that, not worth to dwell on it but I thought you guys would find the interaction funny.

Racism is simply more present in people's mind due to the history of racism, its relevancy in current politics and that people can't choose their race.
I agree with the fact that it's just a word and some people overreact about it without considering the context, the typical thing of not being able to sing a song with that word if you are not black for example, or quoting someone who used that word, but saying that "there's nothing much wrong with saying it" clearly shows a lack of understanding of how people react to words.
It's like saying "there's nothing wrong with saying fuck", I agree but I wouldn't start saying that word in front of a 5 year old kids because normally parents like to avoid their kids from hearing swear words, the way Gman described the situation he seemed to show no tact about the situation.
