Yeah it's an interesting language. I wish people in /deutsch/ weren't so autistic. I was able to practice French and Spanish in their respective threads, but if you speak in the German thread without a VPN on you get swamped by retards. I have to practice with autists in VRChat now for this lang instead.

I also hear there was beef between an austrian and a german (who also was a /tg/ regular and created his own board game) and they harrassed each other and the case even went to court?

Is that true?

The suffix -ano in Spanish almost always the equivalent of the suffix -ão in Portuguese, and there are many other cases like that.

Is there anything similar going on between English and German?
Anonymous Germany No.215730224 >>215730419
>>215730179
Yes, that was a few years ago. The German autist lost his overpaid job because the Austrian reported his postings to his superiors. The German autist then sued the Austrian for hateposting and the Austrian lost his computer, wasn't allowed social media for a few years and had to pay a hefty fine I heard. Austria is really tough on those cases.

Anyway, it seems the frog posters are the only comfy posters left on /deutsch/, and they're not often there.

>Is there anything similar going on between English and German?
We have many such cases. One is for example the adverb/adjective ending -lich, which is -ly in English. English -ing ist often -ung in German.

No. The Bavarian never posts on /deutsch/. We frogpost independently, just like the Dutch on /nederdraad/.

>Early flashlights ran on zinc–carbon batteries, which could not provide a steady electric current and required periodic "rest" to continue functioning.[1] Because these early flashlights also used energy-inefficient carbon-filament bulbs, "resting" occurred at short intervals. Consequently, they could be used only in brief flashes, hence the common North American name "flashlight"

Interesting. I only knew that electric torches appeared shortly after "dry batteries" (zinc-carbon) were invented. Also Europe already had osmium-wolfram filaments early on. We also had a battery company that would make and sell cheap but very good torches to promote battery sales: Varta. Varta is an abbreviation for "Verein für Aufladung, Reparatur und Transport von Akkus" - club for recharging, repairing and trasport of accumulators. Originally they took care of car batteries, but later became big in the production of "dry batteries" - i.e. the D, C, AA and AAA batteries that use a paste as an electrolyte.
