I always make sure to treat guys who are shorter than me with additional respect, since I know that short men in my country are often disrespected.
Do you do the same in your country?

Yes, but it's only because deep down I pity them. Trying to be nice is how I avoid feeling shame over it. I recognize that on the inside I do not always match my physical stature.

Sometimes when dudes ask me how tall I am I intentionally lie that I am shorter than I actually am, just to make them feel less sure of themselves

I think I treat most people with respect, at least I hope I do, but it doesn't seem to be mutual.
Shorter people seem more passive-aggressive or arrogant towards you for absolutely no reason, almost like they think you are a threat or some kind of challenge to be taken down.

It seems to be a thing in anglo countries, maybe not so much here.
And it might be a thing for tall people.
For example. back in elementary school, the teacher told us the saying.
"Înalt ca bradul, prost ca gardul"
"Tall as a fir tree, dumb as a fence "
