Exiled Gazan journalist Ahmed Said (director of the "Biladna" media channel) criticizes the nature of the deal to which Hamas agreed and presents a numerical comparison to past deals between the "resistance" and Israel.
From the discourse on social networks, it appears that "people of the West Bank" are angry about the humiliating deal, while "people of Gaza" would have been willing to give up the hostages for free, as long as the war would end.
Here are Ahmed Said's full remarks:
"The worst prisoner exchange deal in Palestinian history... by the numbers, not by feelings!
Guys, let's be honest...
What is happening today is a farce by every standard, and our blood has truly become cheaper than ever.
Jibril Deal 1985:
3 live Israeli soldiers = 1,151 Palestinian prisoners, including 380 serving life sentences.
Fatah Deal 1983:
4,700 prisoners released, most from Ansar Prison in Lebanon (in exchange for 6 Nahal soldiers captured by Fatah - AA)
Hezbollah Deal 2004:
3 bodies and a former Israeli officer = 436 Palestinian, Lebanese, and Arab prisoners.
Shalit Deal 2011:
One live soldier = 1,027 Palestinian prisoners, including 450 from Hamas and 279 serving life sentences.
And today... after two years of war, thousands of martyrs, and cities wiped off the map, they tell us the deal includes only 250 prisoners (in exchange for 48 Israeli hostages - AA)!!! Many times that number were arrested during the war itself.
Imagine!
If we had kidnapped a settler's dog, the number could have been higher!
And worse than that...
People who called for war and applauded even in the face of destruction because they wanted to see their son among the released, now, when they discovered he is not included in the deal, are calling it a "humiliating deal!"
The pain is great... and the humiliation even greater...
But the painful truth is:
Our blood has become cheap... very cheap."
