Washington lost more battles than he won. Also all the founding fathers begged the British king not to further escalate tension and called themselves loyal British subjects mere months before the revolution. It was eye-opening learning this stuff. Also learning the absolutely decisive role France had. There should be a French flag on every state capitol

>A bunch of opportunistic, power-hungry lawyers and landowners, using honeyed words of โ€œlibertyโ€ to convince the masses to die for their causeโ€”so they could stop paying dues to the crown and hoard all the money for themselves
Honestly, the gayest and lamest thing Iโ€™ve ever read about. One of the rare times the Brits were actually the good guys.

Washington was nco of the British militia, he wanted an officer job but the crown refused so he rebelled just to create a new country so he can be a general

>Washington lost more battles than he won.
Everyone knows this. They also know that winning the war is more important than winning the battle.

>Also all the founding fathers begged the British king not to further escalate tension and called themselves loyal British subjects mere months before the revolution. It was eye-opening learning this stuff. Also learning the absolutely decisive role France had.
Everyone knows this too. Also other Europeans helped. We have schools named after Von Steuben and public holidays for Casimir Pulaski.

Yes his motivational skills were probably his biggest asset. Keeping the men together during harsh winters despite the fact they were irregular militia and legally allowed to go home after their term ended is very impressive

Disagree on the second part. I definitely think a lot of people believe there was a strong general independence movement in the US which only culminated with the Boston tea party. In fact the Americans did everything possible not to be in a conflict but the idiotic decisions by the king forced their hand

Acknowledging France's terrible performance in WWII doesn't take away from the close ties from the revolutions and the statue of liberty being grifted.
