For example, Albania can still be dangerous today, especially in the mountains. And I don't refer to landmines. But some areas have a bad reputation, so I probably wouldn't dare to travel there alone.
I can't comment on North Macedonia, I haven't been there.
The mountains of Montenegro are great, with few people and beautiful, untouched nature (avoid the sea, too many people, high prices, poor service quality).
Bosnia and Herzegovina, why not, but in my opinion, two days are enough...
Croatia – I definitely recommend visiting Istria – it's a different Croatia (it used to be part of Austria-Hungary, and you can tell).
Also, if you will have the opportunity, I recommend trying some of the islands as well.

My brother returned from that place last week.
And be prepared for the prices. Croatians have been crazy for the last three years, with prices higher than in the rest of southern Europe.
Shopping only makes sense in supermarkets, interesting restaurants are only further away from the coast, and so on... Normal prices starts sometime at the end of September.
