They're part of the equipment used by construction workers. I've seen also some gardeners, and farmers using them, but just as an utility vehicle, not as their personal car.
Btw, the are also the smaller ones, think about a Nissan Navara or Mitsubishi L200. The past month a german dude (at least his plates were German) caused a jam by driving a camperized dodge ram on the opposite direction line, since his clunker didn't fit the exit lane of the supermarket he was trying to leave.
