>Brown guys on /int/ - how has being brown affected your romantic life in your country?
Well I am African American actually, but my skin tone is brown...
>how has...[it] affected your romantic life
My romantic life is nonexistent as a result. I know this will sound like cope, however I'd like to clarify. It isn't just my skin color. Rather it is the combination of my personality and the fact that I'm non-white. The white equivalent version of me would have easy time getting an Asian, Indian, Hispanic, any ethnic gf without really any effort. Because I am a black person the dating pool is much more shallow/limited.
There's really just 2 main groups in USA interested in black men. Black women and (some) white women. Both groups look for specific traits: entertaining, charismatic, high energy, extremely extroverted/outgoing, athletic, or else either a gangster type or a rapper/musician. Basically blacks in USA are seen as desirable if they are aligned with entertainment.
I am a nerdy person with introverted nature and obscure hobbies. None of the girls who want a black guy want one into stuff like roguelikes, anime, demoscene, competitive programming, etc. A girl who is okay with such traits would prefer a white guy.
This is all speaking broadly/generally of course. There's a huge anime subculture with black people these days, but I never got along well with those types to be honest. I'm also not all that into shonen which is what those types are usually into.
Tl;dr: there is no romantic life for someone like me. I've made my peace with that. There are girls who date black guys, and there are girls who date "nerds", but there are (practically) no girls who will date a black "nerd".
