you mean Tirol that has been an inherent part of Austrian core land and Trieste - the only AH port? No way anyone would have agreed to that back in 1915. It's easy to talk in hindsight but those people didn't know what the war would end like.

the austrian generals panicked when italy declared war on austria. after the disasters against russia and serbia in 1914 they had no reserves left to defend against an italian attack. they hastily put together a ragtag team of local old and young men that havent been mobilized yet and redirected troops from the russiand and the balkan front, effectively taking austria out of the war on the eastern front and balkan and putting all the pressure on germany which was now alone with russia and basically had to hold the entire front on its own while also fighting the french and english in france and belgium. italy defacto won the war for the entente, simply because the kept austria-hungary busy and they also perfected the sea blockade on the central powers. had italy stayed neutral, germany and austria could have gotten global supplies via neutral italy.

also, Italians would be rather naive if they accepted this offer because they'd know that if only Central Powers win WW1, defeat France and Russia, the German and Austrian army will invade Italy to get the land back. Similarly what Romania did despite signing a treaty with Central Powers where it legally ceded part of its territory to AH.

I feel like if Italy were made a Central Power you would've seen them gain a Greek rump state as a protectorate alongside Albania given the Germans and Austrians needed to sweeten the deal without giving up Austrian territory.

south tyrol has a great stragegic value because it gives you the command of the highlands and completely blocks the access to the southern part of the alpine chain, so yes, italy made the right choice. Also, the central powes should have offered more but germans are stingy af.

yes because after Ah defeat germany was still at war but Ah and italy ahad an armistice treaty that allowed italy to take compelte control of AH railways in order to move the italian army to the german southern border. Germany was in n position to open another front so they surrendered. You dont hear this much because it goes against American propaganda and German anti italian discrimination. This is also the main reason Hitler wanted Italy on his side
