What percentage of ashkenazis in israel are actually religious, or is It just a larp to secure the land?

There aren't many traditional asheknazis, they are either full blown religious or completely secular

a lot of the secular population is mixed to some degree so its hard to say, these distinctions don't really mean a lot these days unless you come from ultra religious communities, your 'stream' depends on the dad, so if your dad is ashkenazi you're ashkenazi even if your mom is mizrahi

I remember looking into this a while ago. Israeli Jews are divided into four categories by religiousness: the ultra-orthodox (Haredim), the religious, the traditional (try to eat Kosher etc. but religion isn't a big part of their life) and the seculars. The seculars are the largest group making up almost half of the Jewish population. The Haredim are the fastest growing group, however, because they have a shitton of children.

The difference between the Ashkenazi and the Mizrahi in this regard is that the Ashkenazi dominate the two extreme groups (ultra-orthodox and secular) while the Mizrahi are more numerous in the two in-between groups.

Well, it's even simpler than that. Most ultra-orthodox movements have their roots in Europe and they don't actually accept that many outsiders. Hence, they're predominantly Ashkenazi.

Meanwhile, secularism strongly correlates with liberalism, which is also a European idea and hence appeals more to the more culturally Western Ashkenazi population.
