I started my master’s program at the ripe old age of 23 and was the youngest person in my program by at least 3 years. Even when I was doing my undergrad straight out of high school there were many people in my program who hadn’t enrolled in college until their early 20s. You’ll be fine, 22 is so young that I’m assuming this thread is probably just bait.

Nah you're not too old. I was 21 going on 22 when I started community college. Graduated like at 27, and got first job at 28, before that just interning.
Right now the job market sucks anyway. Hopefully it gets better in 4 or 5 years when you graduate. Just put some effort into picking something that has a promising job market

Truth is anon, you were never going to make it straight out of highschool into college if you didn't have financially well off parents that are educated on how the school system works, unless you were on top of grades, admissions and scholarships, which very few highschoolers are geared towards navigating that expertly.
Just make do with what you have.

26 is the official cut off mark
You can go to school at 26 years old but you'll be turned off and feel degraded by all the infantilizing rhetoric and high school tier ice breakers

24 is fine. You zoomers have no idea how young you are, it’s honestly scary how obsessed your generation is with age.

Anon should go to a community college to get all the pre requisites, it's cheaper, and there's more people in their 20's there than late teens

Dude. My message was literally that it wasn't over, and few people make it out flawlessly from highschool straight into college, so he shouldn't feel bad for the gap. You're retarded.

Yeah but at least you're earning a paycheck to do it
College is infinitely more degrading and infantilizing in terms of the way they talk to you than even a shitty food service job
very sterile, corporate atmosphere in colleges today

I reread your reply and I agree that I am retarded. Sorry, I’m just so accustomed to reading blackpill shit on this website that I took as you trying to tell him his life is over unless he had all the things you described. My bad.

No worries.
At least you know that I wasn't telling him his life wasn't over, I was just telling him not everyone can live up to the increasingly unrealistic expectations of society's roadmap to what was once considered an average successful enough life.

Maybe you already understand this since you have a degree and lived through the college experience once before, but just in case you don’t:
Please actually try in college. Simply having a degree is next to meaningless in modern America. Everyone is going to college and as a result there’s a huge surplus of diplomas. It’s more important than ever to actually apply yourself and try to be the best student in your class. Not just grades either, but looking for extracurricular activities and leadership positions. Employers want to see that you have the qualities of a committed, motivated learner and aren’t another one of the millions of graduates who coasted through school doing nothing but the bare minimum. Plus it’s a good way to form lasting connections with your professors and peers that might help you secure a job further down the line.

I made the mistake of being one of the lazy students who did the bare minimum and I have nothing to show for my education but a slip of paper. I doubt anybody from my class remembers me, and certainly none of my professors do. If I could go back in time I’d try as hard as I possibly could, but I realized the importance of that too late.

He's kinda right but kinda wrong. The absolute most important thing is to make sure you do the research your degree will actually have jobs. Because if you didn't do that, you're still going to suffer even if you applied yourself.

Good luck, it’s hard to accept as a young person living around so many distractions, but while you’re in college your academic career should be your life. That’s not to say you should abandon any hope of having a social life, just try to find productive and useful ways to meet people rather than just going to parties or playing video games.

Your performance in school only matters for the first job after school and even then it matters less than what you study and where. After you have a job or two it basically doesn’t matter at all.
