What is the university entrance rate in your country?
In Japan.
54.3% male, 51.6% female.

I asked the AI and it wasn't clear enough, so can you tell me?

around 70 percent

is it the percentage of all people attending university or the percentage of people that are admitted after applying?

dont have numbers for that
best i can do is:
in the age group 25-34, 58% of women had a degree and 40% of men had one

Vocational schools are not included in Japanese statistics.
But junior colleges could be included, which might affect the statistics for women
I think it is almost rare for men to go to junior college.

I find it very hard to believe 50-70 of japs have a university degree

Does university mean something else there? Does a nurse go to university? Or a graphic designer?

Key trends in high school-to-college enrollment
A recent slight increase: The 2024 enrollment rate is a small increase from 61.4% in 2023, though it remains below the pre-pandemic level of 66.2% in October 2019.
Disparity by gender: In 2024, enrollment differed significantly by gender, with 69.5% of recent female high school graduates enrolling in college compared to 55.4% of male graduates.
Enrollment by institution type: Of recent high school graduates who enrolled in college in October 2023, 74.6% attended a four-year institution, while 25.4% enrolled in a two-year college.
Racial and ethnic variations: In 2019, enrollment rates for recent graduates varied by race and ethnicity:
Asian: 82%
White: 69%
Hispanic: 64%
Black: 57%
Declining trend from earlier peak: The immediate college enrollment rate for new high school graduates has declined since its peak of 70.1% in 2009.

Hochschule is for shit like plumbing. I’m talking about stuff like electrical engineering where you learn circuits or aerospace engineering where you learn flight dynamics.

No, you massive retard. University isn’t just theoretical research. That’s a very small niche even in chemistry and physics departments. Even math departments are 50/50 pure/applied these days.

I finally understand your spastic posts. You made the retarded rebracketing mistake of think "theoretical" was a modifier of "research" instead of of "degree".

you can only get tradie certs in vocational schools, an engineering degree is typically just as if not more involved as an academic bachelor's. it also qualifies you for master's degrees directly unlikely vocational certs

We have engineering universities and engineering degrees from non universities (hogeschool). It seems many countries don't make this distinction so their numbers seem inflated.
Anonymous Germany No.215986690 [Report] >>215986876
>>215986627
No, that’s because most people don’t actually need university degrees. Universities should be places for academic research only, not some boot camps for future employment. Realistically, only 10-15% of men and 0% of women should attend uni. The modern phenomenon of every dumb roastie getting handed a diploma only worsens education quality to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

most countries don't have enough higher education institutions to do this. pretty sure all our 3-4 engineering schools also technically offer PhDs so they're universities

I agree with you. In this day in age, really intelligent people who want to learn analytical skills should learn at home with the help of AI and sit nationally recognized qualification exams in lieu of a bachelors degree from university. If higher education is cheap to obtain this way, then intelligent people would be more willing to do vocational jobs during hard times when there are no office jobs.

Companies expect you to work hard, so they want a university degree
It is not for academic knowledge
Companies will not judge someone who didn't study hard at school as someone who will work hard at their job
Workplaces that used to have no problem without a university degree now require one
This is because they judge you as an insane person who didn't dare to go to university at a time when it is recommended to do so

AI is very good at highlighing and explaining the holes in your reasoning that is bringing you to the incorrect answer in a problem. AI uses simple language to help you understand, whereas textbooks, at least in English, may use difficult words and concepts you're not familiar

AI is also very good at conjuring up bullshit and making basic mistakes. If you know anything about the topic you’re inquiring about, you would spot them immediately. If you don’t, then congrats, you just absorbed a bunch of erroneous bullshit like a true jeet.

So far, the only thing AI got it wrong for me is 90s TV trivia. Perhaps AI hallucinations is a symptom of the generic algorithm sifting through so much misinformation. What if we had specialized AI and only gave it a set of closed verified data, facts and information like a certain field of academics, like biology?

If you don't see AI constantly making shit up it's because you don't understand the topic

LLMs routinely do shit like invent sources that do not exist, or write code that solves a typical problem rather than the atypical one you asked it to solve. And the only way to tell is being able to determine the truth yourself

what AI is good for is as a search engine in fields you don't know the keywords for, or generating first draft versions of bullshit text that you either don't care about or will edit later when you see all the shit the AI got wrong
Anonymous Germany No.215987858 [Report] >>215988111
>>215987786
If you have any basic understanding of LLMs, you would know that no such thing as “specialized” LLM is possible for math. ChatGPT has a python script for adding numbers ffs. You cannot make a probability-based algorithm do basic addition no matter how many chinesium bot farms you use to run it on.
Anonymous Latvia No.215987904 [Report]

LLMs are trained on fuckhuge amounts of uncurated data. Instruction finetuning and RLHF only shifts their tone and preferred mode of interaction, it doesn't improve the raw prediction capabilities of the model

Is there a need to discredit LLMs because it can't do simple arithmetic? I dunno because of my Japanese upbringing, but doing mathematical calculation is easy to learn and do. If you need a computer to do simple math for you, then you probably shouldn't be doing anything related to math.

No one gives a shit there either. If you have amazing grades but can't function in a corporate or research capability you might as well have done nothing.
