Fellowship is the best because it focuses less on gay plot points and set pieces and more about journeying through majestic and terrifying parts unknown. It makes me think how exploring the New World must have been 500 years ago, where Native Americans were reeling from horrible epidemics that had spread throughout their civilizations so most land was utterly desolate and rewilded outside of the Andes and Mesoamerica

It's not a very good adaptation anyway. Lord of the rings is a very somber and slow paced book. The movies are all close up shots and people yelling "FROOODOOOO" over heavy orchestral music.
