Do they actually not find it shocking at all to mutilate oneself to try to appear as the other sex? Do they genuinely accept men as women and women as men? What is a woman or a man to these people? It's very confusing. It's hard to believe such cultural norms exist, and how widespread they are in Anglo saxon countries

There are generally two kinds of transgenders in my country.
One kind is home-grown and most of them probably don't even know what the word transgender even means and mostly populate salons and clothes shops wearing long hair, make up, and sometimes dresses. I have good experience with them and they are usually pretty friendly.
The second has much in common with the western kind of trans and populate my univsersity and former high school, and are usually pretty damn annoying for me, especially since they tend to be activist wannabe-revolutionary types, while I'm already trying to not fail at chemistry.

Personally, I wouldn't think too hard about it. I would just accept there's some crazy people out there and move on.
I certainly wouldn't make it my entire personality, and make it my life's mission to educate people about the shit-rolling dude I once saw. It just seems so insane.
