The Reformed Christians and the Baptists? They're not even the reason. They had belief systems, they were, despite not being episcopal, at the very least part of the OG Christian theological tradition. It was only later in the 1800s when weird groups like the charismatics, holiness movements and new-baptists took over the evangelisation of the down trodden west that you started to get bizarre deviations from regular Christianity.
The reason the Catholics have retained so much of their belief system is because of the infallibility of Church teaching. Protestants, on paper, are not ripping that apart. What they ripped apart later was the infallibility, and thus became part of secular culture and adapted to secular culture. Thats why you have pro-abortion Lutherans and Anglicans etc who don't call sin sin and CEO mindset evangelical pastors who only care about worldly things.
