Americans are retarded, "let's get into crippling debt for a shitty degree and ending up being a massive burden to the family".
Can't you just do some sort of trade school to become a skilled worker, earn a decent salary and then eventually pay with your money for college if you really care about it?

Not sure if this is bait or if you're just that unaware, I can't really blame you if it's the latter

Couldn't xer just pay the 68k itself? I'd get it if the debt was 300k or something but with a good job 68k isn't that bad

>As of 2021, approximately 45 million Americans held student debt, with an average balance of approximately $30,000.
Let me get this straight. American university graduates can't even pay off that amount of money with their income?

Here you go into debt and don't pay it off.
Graduate wages are shit as well lol.
But you need the qualification to go into certain professions (i.e. Engineering)

Must be nice to have parents that love you. I barely even know my dad and the only financial help he ever gave me was a single month of rent when I was 21.

we have no oversight on how we loan the money to people. we will give an 18 year old $50,000 a year to go to art school which they will fail out of or get a degree after 6 years for them to just turn around and work at a restaurant because they just defaulted to going to school because its what they thought they should do

I work a fairly high paying job with most of my colleagues making low to mid 6 figures. I have 2 coworkers who each have over $300,000 in student loan debt. they are each depending on an income based repayment plan where payments are capped at 10% of their income with all the remaining balance being forgiven after 240 payments (20 years). due to interest rates they will hardly be touching the principal of their loans and instead have just accepted a 10% paycut for most of their careers. They are better off than most and combined will end up with over half a million dollars in unpaid loans which will be picked up by the tax payer. its unsustainable and nobody has the political will to fix it

destroyed credit score preventing you from ever getting a mortage and wage garnishment which is typically capped at 25% of your post tax paycheck
its basically impossible for student loan debt to go away since the 90s due to changes in bankruptcy laws surrounding federal loans but income driven repayment (IDR) plans exist where your payment can basically be $0 if your income is low or capped at 10% for even high earners so its actually in your benefit to just make payments because if you simply refuse to pay the garnishments will end up higher than what you would otherwise pay

harleys are kinda overrated boomer slop, he could sell one harley and get a collection of several cheaper motorcycles
my humble dream right now is to save up for a royal enfield classic with the ww2 paintjob and get a bunch of leather bags to hang on the sides, or a step above that would be to save up for a janus motorcycle

this
also one solution is literally just to take longer to graduate so you can pay it off easier
why rack up like 10k in one year by being a full time student with no time for a job when you could take half the classes, get a part time job, pay your debt, and have money to spare
>b-buh i need to graduate in 4 years
unless you're shooting for a masters degree or higher it does not matter
you'll need the job experience you get from working part time in order to actually use your degree anyways
