The US, Canada, Australia, and Ireland all have sports called football which are not soccer.
I am told that in South Africa and some other English speaking places, "football" general refers to rugby.
These sports and of course English football come from one original sport, which was called football because it was played with a ball while on foot.
Your country only calls soccer football because it was more influenced by England than the other English speaking countries.
