I have always liked sushi, but always as an "alright", healthy and convenient food.
Solid 7/10.
Lately I have been craving nigiri with wasabi every single day and cannot get enough of it. It's starting to get expensive, so I'll start making it myself.
That's it, thank you for reading my blog.

3. Ramen
4. Butaman from 551 Hourai in the King to a lesser extent Pao Pao in Tokyo thats a Prince
5. Gyudon preferably from Matsuya but any will do.
5. Omurice (can't be bothered to rewrite the numbers so tied with Gyudon)
6. Udon something like Hanamaru or Marugame
7. Unagi
7. Karage with sauces, something like the Garlic ones at Sutadonya
7. Gyoza / Shuumai
8. Oyakodon
8. Japanese Pizza Variants like Corn Pizza or Curry Pizza
8. Mazesobas and Tsukemens and all the Dip Noodles that aren't actual buckwheat Soba

God damn shit I ran out of space there so much more it's ridicilous.

From Daily Yamazaki, Lawson, Aeon/MyBasket, Family Markt, 7-11, Marutetsu, Seijo, Seiyu, Daiyaei, Donki...

Jesus I lived in Japan and not once did I ever say "Wow I miss Croatian food" our food is a fucking JOKE.

Every brand has like 1000 new foods every season and they rotate, you never get bored there always something new to try, and when you get bored there even more foreign food.

I also think I like their sweets a lot more because they don't oversugar them. They're still midly sweet not rots your brains sweet and I mean with all the cakes they make like Castela, Baumkuchen, Tayaki, Eclairs and all the others they make.

It's much worse then whats shown here to be honest.

I live next to Italy. But even in Italy they don't put as much weight into ready made food and pastries.
Like when you walk into a Conad, Crai or Coop or Sisa or Spar, Carefour, Eurospin, Lidl etc...
It's all the same shit everywhere in Europe.

https://www.conad.it/volantini/cia-city-friuli-2522p-prezzi-ko-24-30-ottobre?anacanId=009090

If you look at Conas catalouge here it's the same boring shit everywhere.
Japanese supermarkets and konbinis place a big part on selling ready made foods.

Here it's the same old boring ass fruits, inced meat, some salamis and other cold cuts, wow sushi on sale, pasta, some drinks and thats it.

https://www.lawson.co.jp/recommend/new/
https://www.sej.co.jp/products/a/thisweek/
https://www.daily-yamazaki.jp/

Meanwhile look at these 4

New fucking shit every god damn week, and this is the case with Aeon, Seiyu, Marutetsu, and others I don't wanna list them all.

Europe is incredibly static collection of repeating goods, and very few ready to eat items and even less new ones.

Since 1958 actually. When MSG was popularized in the Balkans. They even had Japanese themes on it.

I can't speak for the rest of Europe however but anything near Yugoslavia had Umami for almost a century now.

Oh because MSG was invented in Japan obviously.

MSG was first prepared in 1908 by Japanese biochemist Kikunae Ikeda, who tried to isolate and duplicate the savory taste of kombu, an edible seaweed used as a broth (dashi) ingredient in Japanese cuisine.

The Suzuki brothers began commercial production of MSG in 1909 using the term Ajinomoto ("essence of taste").

Ajinomoto was created to let Ikeda, a professor at Tokyo Imperial University, sell monosodium glutamate (MSG) seasoning made from wheat that he invented and patented. He created the seasoning after discovering that MSG was the source of a flavor that he called umami. In April 1909, Ajinomoto presented Ikeda's seasoning under the brand name "AJI-NO-MOTO" at a new product exhibition event in Tokyo,[5] and began selling the product the next month.[6] Ajinomoto primarily marketed the seasoning to housewives by using their trademark, a housewife in an apron, in newspaper advertisements, on signboards, and on-ground stamps

comments:

I lived in England for 10 years. I suffered from the food. They don't season their food at all, so I think it tastes bad to Japanese people with discerning palates. If it's not only tasteless, it's also expensive, so you lose interest in eating it even more. I had fish and chips as a safe bet, but since the fish was not seasoned, I think it would have been disqualified in Japan. But I don't think the British are so proud that they would never want to think that their own food tastes bad

I've never been to England, but Australia is seriously bad too

It may be problematic to say this, but I suspect that many ethnic groups are taste-deaf
I think Americans can only taste ketchup and mustard. There are many reasons for this, but
basically, I think Anglo don't care about taste

I used to be transferred from London to Barcelona and I realized that the weather and the food affect my mentality

It would have been nice to have found a necessary protein supplement in fish.
Britain is also an island nation, and if the aristocracy had embraced a fish diet, the economy and food culture would have been more developed
On the other hand, we are grateful to our ancestors who devoted all their thought to how to catch and eat fish, seaweed, and seafood.
Kelp, wafu, mekabu, and mozuku are all eaten normally, and we Japanese have amazing digestive enzymes!

I heard that if you ask for the best restaurant in London, they will refer you to Chinatown

I lived in England. The difference between Japan and England really comes out in McDonald's and so-called "convenience store" sandwiches. McDonald's in England is very bad. The bread of convenience store sandwiches is also dry. Cheap food tastes as bad as the price in uk. Japan, where you can eat cheap but amazing tasty food, is an exception to this rule

A variety of dishes as if they appeared in a gag cartoon

continued:

I live in England. I try not to be adventurous because it's expensive, tasteless, scarce, the menu is only written, and it's a triple punch. McDonald's patties and nuggets are stinky, hard, and bewilderingly bad. The vegetables I buy at the supermarket and cook at home are of poor quality. Is it a bad variety? They sell sprouted vegetables, damaged ones, expired ones, and broken eggs without a care. Chicken, pork, and beef are dry, smelly, and hard. They don't sell slices. They don't taste good. The only things that taste good are ham and lamb. You can't expect it to be as good as in Japanese supermarkets. When they are hungry and can only eat a little food, they satisfy their hunger by eating ice cream, cookies, chocolates, so-called sugar. So they complete their hunger with palatable sugar. It's sold as if it's good enough to eat, without considering the feelings of the eater. The way they think is also poor. Someone once said that winning the war was ruining England. I agree

When I traveled to Australia a long time ago, one day I visited a ranch and was served a steak grilled on the spot for lunch. Many Japanese tourists who were happy with the steak initially left it uneaten after a few bites. The tour conductor told us, "Aussie beef itself is a tasty meat, but in Australia, because of the tradition of British food culture, the meat is grilled without seasoning, and because there is no way to prevent the juices from seeping out, the umami and flavor is lost, and the result is just a tasteless finish. The meat istelf is not bad," he said in a desperate attempt to explain himself.

Fifty years ago, I went on my honeymoon to a restaurant in London and was disgusted by the mashed spinach that was served as a side. I thought it would have tasted better with salt and pepper and a little butter. The spaghetti restaurants in Rome are also of a very low level compared to those in Japan, and the fritters in Venice were not tasty at all

Do not confuse the British with Croatia who is next to Italy, bordered Turkey in the past and is now neighboring Hungary. We had access to most of the world spices at our doorstep, long before the British knew they even existed.
We eat spicy foods, we eat and make all the things you eat at Saizeriya and more.
British are notoriously SHIT when it comes to food.
My part of Croatia is specifically known for our Paprika Pastes called Ajvar, various pickled foods, 100 different salami tipes all with different spice mixes and tons of cheese.

We also have two cousine types Mediterranean and Coastal so you can find everything from Fish to Pig Fat Chicps called Čvarci.

If you read history as soon as the US mega crops of the time heard of MSG they started buying it in ridicilous quantaties.

IT was invented in 1908 by 1910 they made 4.7 tons a year. in 1913 it was up to 23.3 Tons

In 1917 they opened a New York office and by 1918 they were exporting 20.5 Tons to the US 1/4 of it's entire output.

1931 due to mass orders of the seasoning by H.J. Heinz, Co. and Campbell Soup Co. Between 1931 and 1937, seasoning production increased from 1,077 tons to 3,750 tons, with revenue rising from 13 million yen to 27 million yen.
