You are doomed to "live" in Communist Europe of the 70s
But you can pick country/ republic. Your choice?

(All Californians will automatically go to Albania with no right to choose).

>doomed to "live"
People of the Ukraine used to genuinely live under commies. Now they're on survival mode. Going from a 50 mln country in 1991 to a 25 mln country in 2025 is literal grim and new hohlomor.

Anonymous France No.216088097 [Report]
Slovenia is actually the closest socialism ever came to working so I would go there absolutely. They were also the first ones in Yugoslavia to receive imports of western culture. So by hearing a Sex Pistols record and ripping it off in Serbo-Croatian or Slovenian I could have been hailed as a Yugoslav rock n roll legend !

Yugoslavia had one of the strongest passports in the world and you could travel whenever you wanted. For example, Czech or Slovak tourists who came to Croatia for a summer vacation always had to leave one family member at home so that the state could be sure that the family would not defect to the West, and obtaining a visa was extremely complicated. I don't even want to imagine what it was like in the Soviet Union. In Yugoslavia/Croatia you could think in the morning 'what should I do today' and at noon get on a plane and go to London. Croatian workers went to work in Germany en masse (Yugoslavia was Germany's Mexico), we had Coca Cola, jeans, Mc Donalds. Yugoslavia was not actually a communist country and everyone from the Eastern Bloc was jealous of us because we looked like a free country. Anyone who says 'East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia' doesn't know what they're talking about.

East Germany and it's not even close.
1970s was when Honecker started his "unity of social and economic policy" shift, which meant the government started massively increasing wages, new buildings and importing defitsit items from the West to try and "win" people back to the system. It was the country's highest point (also beginning of the end, since Honecker achieved it all by taking out unpayable credit loans in the West, but not my problem.)
>muh Stasi
If I'm doomed to live there regardless I simply would not try and rebel, and the Stasi really didn't care as long as you weren't doing something nefarious like that. They kept files on people but it's not like they were just fucking with people for the lulz at random. It wasn't the NKVD.

many experts theorize that Gierek's consumption boost strategy, the loosening of screws, led to an explosion of expectations and this was the real reason for the eventual downfall of communism, the citizens got a taste and didn't want it to end

dalmatia wheere my dads from. he tells me stories of those times. everyone smoked, drank, fucked chicks, beat people up. for example my dad was late for a bus and had his cousin droppin him to a bus stop. he was late so his cousin chased the bus cut the bus off on the road, ordered the driver out and forced the driver to take my dad on or else he would beat him. that kinda stuff seems fun, but chaoptic but i'd prolly become more of a tough guy if i was from there and not derpy canada.
least: latvia/estonia/lithuania. i just cant imagine how all these places never made any mark on anything ever.
