Stand your ground laws are much a thing here as well. A man in my town stabbed two burglar 18 times with a kitchen knife about a year ago. He wasnt charged with anything despite killing two men. The system is just very picky about where the line between defence and punishment goes. My father spent 3 months in jail as a young adult. This for stomping on a man who has tried to rob him. The latter story are the ones you hear about
