The of isn't necessary in this context.

Now you can put the of in technically but it just sounds awkward and forced, it's for some reason more acceptable when speaking formally or technically, for instance

But you see here I used "the majority of" rather than "most of" because that's just the natural way to say it in conversational but formal English.

My Peruvian fiancee has been learning English since she was seven but she still mixes up in/on in some edge cases. As for pronunciation she's improved a lot through my coaching, but the short i and the voiced th remain challenges. Recently for practice I've had her say the phrase "hither and thither" over and over until she gets it right.
