There is this concept of "cutoff marks" in India which benefits lower castes. What this basically does is lowers the qualifying threshold for candidates from these communities to pass exams---whether for medical, engineering, or other professional fields.

For instance, the cutoff for a Dalit to pass an exam with is about 40 out of 100. On the other hand, an upper-caste student would need to score at least 90+ in the same exam to even be considered for the same opportunity

Then there is the reservation system, which reserves available vacancies in every field for lower-caste individuals. Even if you are qualified UC, you don’t get that post
