Chopsticks are an impractical utensil with terrible economy of movement.
Rice is eaten with a fork, sweet pilaf is eaten with a spoon. Fite me.

It's more practical to eat sticky and starchy short-grain rice with chop sticks instead of spoons. As it sticks to the wood and is more convenient.
It's more about the type of rice and cuisine found in East Asia, compared to other parts of the world, where rice is dry, like basmati rice.
It's also they're able to shape the rice in balls but you're not.
The fork is really just superior for almost all uses, and especially when eating.
Having too many people and not enough metal is something to fix, not celebrate as part of your culture.

Surface area. Chopsticks are tapered and narrow at the end, so your mouth only makes contact with the ball of rice that sticks to the wood.
Wooden spoon gets wet and the rice sticks all over, making it very messy.
