What I can tell you is that the 80-90% figure is a massive exaggeration and was made up by Paraguayan nationalists in the 1930s the same way China uses Japanese warcrimes for national cohesion, this new vision of the Paraguayan war was also perpetuated by Brazilian leftists and taught in schools in the 80s-90s.
