We removed the power from landlords here in Sweden (they cannot raise rent randomly, cannot evict people without serious reason etc) and all rent is capped by law.
I pay €612/month for a 2 room 67m2 apartment in the center of my city.
My previous 1 room apartment was 44m2 and cost €341/month.

this is misleading for Bucharest because the center of the city is the shitty part, the nice and expensive parts are north

Doesn't that lead to a housing shortage since no new apartment are being build since it's not worth it as an investment? At least this is what economists (liberals) are telling us here.

Oh yeah, that's a realistic place to live here and totally not aimed completely at the rich and wealthy...

They constantly build new areas and entire city blocks of new apartments here.
Like the other anon said, the housing shortage is limited to the immigrant areas. They live like 12 people in small apartments.

I don't hate shitskins. They are just fauna living their life. I hate the capitalists forcing them on us.

Yes. That's the flip side. For cities like Stockholm you might have to queue for like 10 years to find a decent apartment(Unless you are brown they you just get handed one instantly).
It has also led to a burgeoning less regulated second-hand market and Airbnb cancer where rent prices are insane. Granted I think they have been trying to crack down on that the last few years.

Worth also nothing is that actual house prices are still high, so most of the country just stick to being rent-cucks their entire life.

If you can afford to rent a 2 room apartment you can also afford to buy it, it's that simple.
The downside is that you basically make 0% return on the invested capital versus 10-30% in the stock market
Anonymous Germany No.216339079 [Report]
>>216339020
Also being tied down to one particular place in one city
Renting and buying stocks is generally the smarter investment.
Most Germans do neither though

Unless you leave the major cities. You can buy houses for beer money if you're willing to live in some backwash small town area. My brother bought a 182m2 house in Edsvalla for under €20k and he commutes 30 minutes into Karlstad.
Anonymous Sweden No.216339287 [Report]

That's fair, but few people want to daily commute from Skellefteå to Stockholm or whatever.
