Did you tell him that those kings aren't role models for humanity and none of them claimed that they are prophets?

I can’t believe they consider Muhammad the perfect man, he was such a neurotic bastard.

> Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often.
Their religion is literally copying him. That's why they rape women. Because Mo was always a rapist.

Basically he's saying Mohammad was product of his times. You can't judge ancient people based on modern values.

You can because many of the issues that Mohammad raises are perennial religious issues. For example idolatry, the making of graven images as outlined here >>216342433 is something the Protestants believe as well, to this very day. The difference is Mohammad makes the argument that ALL life is sacred, it's all created by God, and you're insulting God by trying to imitate Him with stick figure dogs and cats. Protestants are not that autistic, but do in fact argue that it is insulting to make religious artwork, because you worship it o algo.
It's all retarded, you can and should push back against it, because Muslims are absolutely pushing it on you.

After reading a reasonable amount of the Qur'an, my opinion of Muslims has actually got worse.

Shit's so weird man. I had a similar thing when talking to a Christian friend.
I wondered about how surely one should see the stories in the Bible in their historical context and that a lot of them happened in a time with long outdated social norms. And the reply was that actually no, the Bible is above any society so it should be followed to the letter.
I just don't get that

Really what it reeks of is Human inadequacy and a child being afraid that 'Daddy' is going to punish someone for trying on his business shoes.

Your friend is wrong. The Bible is impossible to read without understand its historical context, like for example the entire New Testament cannot be understood without first understanding the politics of the Roman occupation and the beliefs of the Pharisees and so on. If you don't do that, you walk away with bizarre ideas like the Pharisees were evil Satan worshippers (rather than Jews with a stick up their ass, literally 'holier than thou') or that Jesus preached just generically supporting the government (rather than not getting involved with governments or economies you don't support, the true meaning of 'render to Caesar what is Caesar's').

Good to know, though I try to not get into it too much.
It's a very valuable friendship but we'd probably disagree in almost any topic adjacent to faith. Hell I'm 99% sure they're a young earth creationist, which is lame as fuck.
>render to Caesar what is Caesar's
wasn't that something about separation of church and state. I don't know shit about this desu

Because it wasn't, and the fact you even THINK that section paints the Romans in a good light shows you are utterly ignorant. Here is the full context of the passage
>the Romans are occupying Judea
>some Jews are radical, want to violently overthrow the Romans
>the Pharisees dislike Jesus, want to trick him
>they send someone to one of his sermons who tries to get Jesus to openly condemn the Romans, if he does this then he can be executed; but if Jesus says he supports the Romans then Jesus looks like a bootlicker
>"Yo Jesus, should we pay taxes to the Romans?"
>Jesus turns the question around with "hey, you who claims to hate Romans, do you have a Roman coin?"
>"Uhhh..."
>"Well if you have a Roman coin, then you should pay Roman taxes. It's only fair, given you took that coin from Caesar. But what is God's should be given to God."
Thus the quote "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's". It's an anti-Roman statement phrased in a neutral way, Jesus is saying don't participate in the Roman economy if you don't like Romans. Don't take their money, don't buy their products, etc. Which is not against Roman law.

And yes, the Pharisees would later convince the Romans to execute Jesus anyway.

Which king is he even talking about?
Child marriages in the middle ages weren't that common in general(the average marriage age was surprisingly high) and when they happened it was usually between the kids of nobles.
Massive age gaps were quite rare as far as I know.
But a random king long ago the average European nowdays gives zero shit about isn't comparable in importance to the central religious figure Muslims pretty much worship(they try to live exactly like Muhammed did and follow every retarded thing he made up in pretty obsessive ways) anyway.
