Who do you like best: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, or Tokugawa Ieyasu?
Oda Nobunaga was an interesting character, having black aides brought by Catholic missionaries and wearing Western cloaks, but he was not well-liked by his subordinates and was assassinated by them.
He had a cruel and aggressive personality like Hitler.
Had he lived, he would likely have crossed the sea and invaded Korea or even China.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a later ruler of Japan, made Osaka his capital and invaded Korea.
However, Korea resisted, the war dragged on, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi died of old age, so Japan withdrew from Korea.
Tokugawa Ieyasu, who won the Japanese civil war against Toyotomi's side, made Tokyo the capital, and because he was a moderate, closed the country off.

Date Masamune, so, Ieyasu by proxy I guess. I like Hideyoshi the least because he was kind of wasteful. Nobunaga was just a pure warlord, but Ieyasu was fundementally morally upright and was wise enough to adapt to the changing times, and it's why he didn't get the Akechi Mitsuhide treatment

Yasuke, the best samurai who mastered the language and the blade in a few weeks and then banged Oda's female relatives with his beebeesea.

It is said that the reason Ieyasu hated Catholicism was because the Catholic Church sold Japanese people captured in war as slaves, but is this true?
Date Masamune is cool because he has only one eye and wears an eye patch over it.

Nobunaga had a penchant for unusual things, as evidenced by his castles.
But he was bisexual, so perhaps he and Yasuke were in a gay relationship?

Slavery is a non-issue in the old world, considering Japanese people enslaved other Japanese people. It's not something a lord would have cared about. Why would Ieyasu have the sensibilities of a fat androgynous liberal white woman attending university in California?
Enemy factions will make up any reason to distrust the other side, but simply put, the kingdom of Spain at this time was not as powerful as they were recently. There would not have been much gained with a total allegiance to Spain and Rome. The persecution the Christians suffered was more a result of being caught in a political crossfire, and not because of any legitimate religious beef.

In Japan, where Buddhism and Shinto were deeply rooted, it was only natural that Western Christianity, which the Japanese didn't really understand, would not take root in the country when Portuguese and Spanish missionaries suddenly began preaching to the Japanese. However, many daimyo and Japanese converted to Christianity.
That's why Christians and Amakusa Shiro started a rebellion in Nagasaki during the Edo period.
Ieyasu was apparently a very cowardly man.
He was cornered by Takeda Shingen, and once defecated in fear.

The Takeda clan had a strong cavalry, but Nobunaga used muskets, which had been introduced from the West, and destroyed the powerful Takeda clan.
Nobunaga's country was a small and weak one, but Nobunaga's strategy was to launch a surprise attack on their main camp in the rain.
Nobunaga then killed Imagawa Yoshimoto, who was leading a powerful country at the time, and destroyed the Imagawa clan, thus rising to power.

Tokugawa Ieyasu was credited with keeping Japan peaceful by closing it off to the outside world for 300 years.
During those 300 years, Japan experienced a Renaissance-like era in which all kinds of culture, including ukiyo-e, was born.
However, 300 years later, American Commodore Perry opened the country to the outside world, and Japan entered a turbulent era as various forces emerged, including those who wanted to overthrow the shogunate and expel foreign powers.
Then, when Japan learned that China had lost the Opium Wars to Britain, it rapidly Westernized and became a military state.
By chance, Japan won World War I against Russia with the support of Britain, which led Japan to become cocky and lead it into the tragic Second World War.

>it was only natural that Western Christianity, which the Japanese didn't really understand, would not take root in the country when Portuguese and Spanish missionaries suddenly began preaching to the Japanese.
I was more just saying that the actual Christianity itself was not really the real problem, it was how Japan was poised against the rest of the world.
Even in Europe, Christianity was not easily accepted among the heathens when it was introduced. Willing conversion is a rare thing in history.
