There are so many idioms and words that are identical to English, it's proving to be simple to far and I'm on HSK3 vocab/grammar.

I think most people can fly through HSK1 vocab like numbers and tone intros.

Aside: Duolingo keeps people are entry level forever. It doesn't teach you efficiently. Don't let it dictate your learning. It throttles you.

Picking up hundreds of different dialects seems annoying. A lot of them are rather isolated too. Otherwise I agree, the language is simple, only the writing system is obnoxious.

What's the best stuff for traditional Chinese?
I'm especially looking for a phonetic/pronunciation book. With a lot of minimal pairs, intonation practice, and clear recordings.

I'm also surprised that in comparison to other East Asian languages (Korean and Japanese), Chinese doesn't have level of honourable speech.
