Mexico's coca cola addiction can be explained by the long working hours that the mexican working class have to endure everday plus the physical intensity of this work. Drinking water would only fill the stomach with liquid but provide no calories. It would be akin to giving water to a newborn, it would fill him yes, but you'd end up killing him by depriving him of the nutriest in baby formula.

In the same vein, Coca Cola provides the necessary calories for the working class to carry out the strenuous physical-intensive jobs which are predominant in the country.

Coca-Cola addiction will be fixed once capitalism is overthrown and the tempo of the machines are put in the service of society and not viceversa.

The capitalist class only cares about the physical conditions of the working class, inasmuch as they're capable to carry on production. They don't care at all about their future, since they will stop producing commodities when they're old.

Soft beverages provide excess calories necessary to energize the working man. That's why you will find them in just about every corner in this country, even in parts where the state has forgotten to provide basic services.

The Mexicans at my job are all weird newly middle class cosmopolitan types and drink giant coffees with a fuck load of added protein powder and splenda kek. That's basically just the wealthier version of that. Not sure why. They all make like $30 an hour at the lowest and can afford normal food.

And no matter how many calories coca cola has it doesn't satisfy you. People dont replace food with coke, they replace water with coke because it tastes good. They use coke to "enhance" the experience of their slop that on its own is more than enough surplus calories.
