We also have something like these. You have to go back once your contract is up, and Japanese firms generally don't want to renew your contract in order to keep the wages low, so they just replace you with another temp worker (who's part of the new batch). There are illegals but they're treated very horribly (usually employed by black companies owned by an ex-yakuza), so a person or two per village telling their experience is enough to deter anyone except the very desperate (gambling addicts, indebted, and so on).
It's the EU that's obsessed with keeping the temp workers, by easily giving contracts (maybe out of guilt or because of shitty "advisory" groups like the ISS), granting permanent residency and naturalization process. Everyone who can speak the national language and don't commit crimes can apply for a PR visa in 5 years, and a citizenship process a few years after that. Normally, this might not sound like a bad thing at all if you're a moderate, since the long and complicated process of obtaining it will discourage anyone but the very dedicated, until you remember that they also have to deal with illegal migrants, refugees, and the ghetto second generation. Finally, unlike many other groups Indians somehow don't want to go back home. When they migrate, they're really planning to leave the country forever. So, the guaranteed PR-citizenship process will eventually result in more Indians immigrating to the EU.
