>Listen to a Japanese song and really like it but don't understand anything
>Look up lyrics
>Butchered grammatically-incorrect use of the English language with strange word choice and intonation
>I can't listen to the song anymore, it's ruined for me.
Why do the Japanese have to sing in Engrish?

I'm pretty sure you are listening 90s' J-pop
It's because one person wrote about a half of music lyrics that age.

Our language has too much vowels to compose a sentence or a meaningful phrase with a limited amount of phonemes that fits in a short duration of a phrase(as in music)
Like, when you sing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Had a very shiny nose", we finish the same full 2 bars to sing it "Makka na ohana no, Tonakai-san
ga" meaning only A red nosed reindeer (does something) in Japanese
This is why we use an English phrase in a song

Just embrace it, you fucking poser. You can still tell what they’re trying to articulate, and usually it’s fucking awesome. I miss high school. I miss my small group of Jap-literate nerd friends. I miss playing imported games and holding Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments. FUCK!
