How come Pakistan and Bangladesh converted to Islam under Mughal rule, but not the rest of the Indian subcontinent? What made those regions in particular susceptible to conversion?

Just so you know, India has a Muslim population of 200 million, so larger than Bangladesh and not that far from Pakistan.

well it's a little loaded because Pakistan and India weren't real countries prior to the Partition, there were muslims living all over India but, primarily in western parts (since it was closer to Arabia) After the partition muslims from all over India migrated to Pakistan and it became like 99% muslim but, it wasn't originally like that

Bangladesh has ties to the historic state of Bengal, which is more or less split in half today, into West Bengal (the hindu majority bit now part of India) and East Bengal (which was Muslim majority and became East Pakistan then independant).

The reason I made the distinction is basically because for a long time East bengal was remote, forested and rural. West Bengal was flatland and easily accessible to other parts of India. I'm gonna simplify this for brevity but, basically hindus invaded bengal and everyone in West Bengal become muslims, East bengal was remote and not easily accessible so, they stayed bhuddists until the Mughals took over. They started giving out licences to sufi missionaries to go into the forested east Bengal and start settlements etc where they converted the local Buddhists to Sufi Islam which was mystical and appealed to their beliefs eventually they converted to whatever the run of the mill islam exists today, but, the seed was planted by Mughal missionary settlers
