I have a Pléiade collection of 26 volumes, read French for 1-2 hours each day and I am reinvigorated by my love of France every single day
I only started studying French at the age of 25 though and only started studying it seriously when I was 27

Devant ma fenêtre
Il y a un oiselet
Toute la nuit il chante
Il chante sa chanson

S’il chante, qu’il chante
Il chante pas pour moi
Il chant pour ma mie
Qui est loin de moi

Ce sont montagnes
Si sont très hautes
M’empêchent de voir
Ou sont mes amours

 la font de Nîmes
Il y a un amandier
Qui fait des fleurs blanches
Comme du papier

Cool anecdote anon. I also want to try to learn French but I don't even know where to start. I don't know how learning a language normally goes, I pretty much learned English on the fly. I took French in high school but I had a shitty autistic teacher who just talked about random shit happening in her life every class. It was an easy class because she just repeated old tests all the time and didn't bother stopoing kids from copyibg the answers but I didn't learn anything. I literally can't string a basic ass sentence

Similar story. I blame British and American antifrench propaganda. Maybe some German too. For example, how easy it is for people to be arrogant toward the French for no reason.
I almost failed school because I refused to learn that language. But the French embassy should do something about it so that they don't let to teach that language by cunts.
The only hot French teacher in my school didn't teach my class, so I didn't want to learn it. France also seemed to have no idea what to do with these post-communist regions and handed them over to Germany.

If you start over the age of like 12-13 you will never have a perfect accent but otherwise you can learn any language so long as you have the time daily to dedicate to it

it doesn't matter, you can learn it at any age. steve kaufmann (popular polyglot) knows like 20 languages and learned most of them after 60

there's a critical period for sound discrimination so adults usually will have an accent (but kids won't). but that period ends at like 8 or something

Great song, love Françoise Hardy, was introduced to her through the film Moonrise Kingdom (also great). I've also been learning French for a while now and I've found that occasionally putting on a song or two helps keep me motivated, even if I can't understand most of the words. The language has a flow to it that I've been unable to find in English.

Strange, I've personally found French spelling and pronunciation rules much more consistent than English. Like imagine being a new English speaker and trying to figure out the difference between "laughter" and "slaughter."
