if Russians don't have an inferiority complex and they don't worship Americans why do so many Russian cities end in "burg"?
They love American culture so much that they named their cities after the biggest pinnacle of American culture: burgers

Weird premise. Since at least Peter the Great (early 18th century), a big part of Russian culture and the Russian identity is a very complicated and nuanced inferiority complex towards the West. This manifests in many ways, often self-contradicting. Russians simultaneously want to be like the West, hate the West for being better off, look down upon the West for being soulless/greedy, say Russia shouldn't copy the West and pursue its own path, etc. Constantly comparing itself to the West is what created today's Russia.

Not really. Russia is ultimately part of Western culture and invented and contributed a lot of common conventions and inventions in the West. What he meant was to Russianize those German naming conventions for a couple fo their cities, but you knew that. The Western vs non-Western divide is not really an objective game, especially when it comes to Russia and is driven by politics at large and has been for centuries and is not unique to them, but in this case was a narrow question of russianizing language which is a fair cause, if they wwish. It's kind of like Brits referring to continental Europeans as just "Europeans" simply to distinguish themselves in speech. Though it's funny I mention Brits since they started this entire division meme with Westernism vs Orientalism. You (and many others) are just using other people's framing confabulated for self-serving interests.
