I've traveled most of Europe and yeah, fat people aren't uncommon.
What is uncommon is the giant mountains of lards you see in America with fat rolls all over their body. That's rare here.

I live here in Lapland and I work at the tourist center between December and February.
We have jackets, boots and thermal pants you can rent if you don't bring your own. Sizes up to 4XL.
We've had American tourists who can't even fit in our sleds (dog/horse pulled), Americans who complain over not having clothes that fit them and even one couple who complained that there's no bus or ubers between the hotel and center.. It's like 500 meters...
