If by Yankee you mean a new England heritage in the most technical sense, sure, but if by Yankee you mean post-civil war Ivy League, obviously not, we have our own history. It's like both the north and south are "hyper-british" it's a meaningless statement that only makes sense when deconstructed and interpreted in some grand historical sense. There can exist in betweens in American society, especially when it comes to people with their own history in the west.
