When I was in the military I deployed to the middle east with a unit from the South Dakota National Guard. The locals were contracted to cook our food for us and they liked to cook their local cuisine like meze, hummus, halloumi, and other unfamiliar food.
The guys from South Dakota were so grossed out by their food that they forced the base to cook grilled cheese sandwiches every day, and that was all they would eat. They were also terrified of all the brown people and their strange customs, which was hilarious to watch.

They’re not so much the source of the problem as much as northeastern states. New York, Jersey, and The rest. Pennsylvania excluded. Midwesterners are nice people just like Appalachian people. One notable cultural difference is that Midwestern people have a sort of Lutheran passive-aggression. Appalachian’s, and southerners for that matter, tend to be much more direct. This is not always good. I think it’s because we’re poorer. I really don’t know. We also have a tendency to hoard junk for some reason. He’s a pic I took. Sorry if it rotates, I hate technology.

I live almost exactly halfway between Chicago's North Loop and Davenport Iowa, and find it all surprisingly comfy--even beautifully scenic on some routes. Even as an early-retired cripple NEET cunt of no special means, I'm weirdly blessed by almost any standard, and envy no one, in my present circumstance.
