They're both Asian countries with a billion people that faced British colonialism and have Dharmic cultural backgrounds with minorities of Abrahamics.
What's holding India back exactly?

left is laid back. cozier. right is too artificial and uptight of a society.

No matter how backward shithole China was, we must not forget that in terms of centralization and bureaucratization, however inefficient, they were not significantly behind the great powers.
Similarly, those who claim Korea was sub-Saharan Africa-tier just decades ago overlook this point. Skipping the minefield of power struggles among dozens of tribes and starting ahead is a tremendous advantage.

China imposed Han supremacy, beat the villagers into becoming civilised.
Here anything like that would result in a civil war, balkanisation etc.
Benefits of letting lower classes get voting rights.

>Dharmic cultural backgrounds
India's caste system is too rigid and I also don't think they have a philosophy comparable to Confucianism.
China is collective in the sense that the actions of one person doom or elevate his entire family. They practiced extremely efficient eugenics for thousands of years by holding entire families responsible to receive any punishment or merit.

The efficiency of the Chinese bureaucracy was so universal and long-lasting that it was baked into folk religion, where the afterlife had the same sort of government and bureaucracy as the world before.

I was just thinking about how politically incorrect Zhuge Liang's conquering of the Nanman tribes were.
India's differences are insanely complex, I didn't know that Jains, Hindus, Buddhists etc had so many sub-sections and don't always get along. The best course of action would have been to allow folk religions but impose the same lifestyles, government, etc

Thanks, but I'm posting from the perspective of a tourist to show how easy it is to take similar shots of both countries. I'm not trying to push a narrative on whether x country is superior to y because that ultimately depends on each persons own preferences and desires. I'd recommend anyone in this thread to visit both if they ever have the chance to.
