Why do they suck so much at war? I mean even in the absolute state of anarchy of the mexican army we managed to mow down a lot of them and maybe had it not been for some stupid decisions made by Santa Anna, Mexico could have won some decisive victories that could had turned the war around (in battle of Angostura or Pedierna)

Apart from that, everywhere they had intervened has ended in absolute failures

Because there's incentives to keep a war dragging instead of winning, I'll also state that the Chinese also got locked into what would've been another endless conflict with the Vietnamese like we did shortly after we left

Most of those territories were empty or habited by some 100 people doing fandangos in the middle of the desert. Its really not that impressive.

We're really only good under three conditions.

2. We have a lot of money for it
3. We have superior tech

1) Mexico was going (color me surprise) through a civil war when that was going on.
2) Mexico ports had been blockaded by spanish & french navies years before the war, leaving the country in economic depression.
2) USA relied on the powerful comanches to act as spearhead against Mexico (omitted in american historiography)


Despite all of the above, Santa Anna managed to absolute destroy american armies in Angostura and americans were getting btfo in Padierna. Had it not been for Santa Anna dumb decisions that battle could probably had been won stopping american dead on their tracks

Operation Desert Storm was the single greatest military venture of the 20th century. The difficulties in Iraq 2 and Afghanistan were political, not militarily.

If war with China starts, American businessmen would want the conflict to drag on as long as possible, winning the war with China is worst outcome for MIC. Conflicts need to drag on for 20+ years to make trillions of dollars. Losing the war would make them lot of money too.
